Hero Of Sparta
Hero of Sparta is a 3D action adventure game. Hero of Sparta has been inspired from Sony’s God of War, this game delivers everything that you love about God of War in the palm of your hand. Hero of Sparta is best described as a God of War knock-off.
To began with when you first start up the game, you are presented with the game trailer. A true graphic beauty, one cannot expect same graphics in the game.
The game offers up 8 different levels for you to fight your way through. To fully complete each level you need to find out a series of Health and Energy power ups. They aren’t hidden completely out of sight but it is easy to miss them occasionally. There are also 5 weapon upgrades in this game. Each one has a different advantage and weakness to the other one
you play King Argos, a Spartan hero. The game opens with King Argos who has been shipwrecked on a beach, but before he leaves, he must complete a task for a God on the Island. Argos has to battle through many levels, slaughtering countless beasts straight from Greek mythology on his epic journey.
There is no shortage of monsters to cut down. When you cut down monsters, you collect colored orbs that serve various purposes. Green orbs restore health while red orbs are accumulated until you can level up your weapons
However, some of your fights against huge beasts are cut short When the enemy is weak a button appears on-screen. Press it to start the event. This is also known as a mini game just like one in “God of War”. If you press all of them as they appear, Argos slays the monster to death and you are rewarded with an extra number of orbs. And as you move ahead in the game there are many special moves and weapons to unlock, so game keeps you playing to see what you can earn next.
The controls use the touch screen pretty well. You hold your device horizontally. There is a virtual analog stick in the lower left corner of the screen. Attack and defend buttons appear in the lower right corner. As you proceed further in the game there are more complicated moves where you have to drag your finger in certain patterns across the screen. However controls are superb! They handle just like a PSP game.
The music is exceptional as well. Tracks fit the game perfectly! The sound is crisp, the entire game lies within the sound effects.
As each game this also has some issues that you might not enjoy. First off, if there are too many enemies on the screen the game will lag a bit. definitely noticeable but still ignorable. The second issue is that moving around the level is easy, but trying to change a direction while fighting is near impossible. You have to finish off your swing before you can move your direction, making it hard to switch between multiple targets .
As an overall package, Hero of Sparta is one of the most impressive games for the iPhone. The game play is simple and addictive and If you liked Kroll, God of War, or any other hack and slash game, you’ll love Hero of Sparta.
