The name says it all, Google Mobile App lets user speak to search. The Google app is one of the more powerful and useful apps available. The Google Mobile application gives you quick access to Google search. Without having to wait for safari to open, then load Google.com. You can now use application and quickly begin searching.

When you launch the app the first time, App gives you an option of watching a short video tutorial on how to use the voice search. But it’s easy enough. The voice search feature uses the device’s motion detector to activate.

On opening the application, lift the iPhone to your ear, wait for the beep and then speak. Application senses when you lift the phone, records your spoken words and translates them into digital files, which are entered into the Google search bar.

Tap the small downward point arrow on the left side of the search bar, This small arrow allows you to determine WHAT the app searches. Choices include- “iPhone and Web”, “Local”, “Images”, “News”, “Shopping” and “Wikipedia”. this small arrow which is easily overlooked is powerful feature

Tapping the small “i” at the upper right brings you to another configurable area. This area allows you to

turn the contacts search feature on and off

turn the “include prior searches and websites” on and off.

With “Contacts” turned on and “Websites” turned off, you get a powerful contacts search function than the one Apple added in 2.0.

You can also :

· toggle whether you want the app to make suggestions as you type

· toggle “Safe search” on or off

A great feature in this application is the keyword suggestion tool. While you’re typing Google will give you suggestions to what you might be searching for. Once you’ve gotten some search term, the app’s history tool can be used to view them again in list simply by touching the image of the magnifying glass at the bottom of the screen. There is also a “Clear History” button in case you want to get rid of your search history.

Voice recognition is never perfect, However as a package the Google mobile app is a must have app on you iPhone and iPod Touch. The app loads pretty fast and gives good search results in short time.
