App Sniper
App Sniper as the name suggest is an app designed to show you the latest applications to hit the store and which are currently on sale or are being offered for free. So App Sniper program that tracks prices of applications that you are interested in, but cost too much. You can input a “desired” price, and if/when the app reaches that price, you are notified.
When you start the app sniper program, it synchronizes any updates with your iPhone from its servers. So that you have the most recent prices and apps listed.
As you enter the App you will see there are four tabs at the bottom. On sale, New Apps, Snipes and Configuration. These tabs also display a notification of how many apps are new, or on sale, , or meet your snipe criteria.
The On Sale tab lets you see the various apps that are currently on sale i.e have gone down in price or being offered for free. Apps are grouped into days (Last 24 hours, 1 Day Ago, 2 Days Ago etc). On finding an app of your interest on the list, you can click on it to read the app summary. You can purchase the app right away, or you can choose to add it to your app snipe list.
The second tab is “New App”. This tab allows you to see what new apps have hit the store recently. Just like the On Sale tab, apps are are grouped into days, and number of apps released since you last opened the app, are displayed above the tab.
Next in the list is “Snipe” tab. When an App is added to the snipe list, it will allow you to set your desired purchase price for that app – the snipe price. When an app meets your target price on the snipe list, App will notify it to you by highlighting the price and the buy button with green color, but if the current price is still to high it will be red. To add and app to the snipe list simply click the “+” button, then start typing the app name. Tapping through to any application will give you detailed view of the tab and When you click on the “buy” button, it takes you to the appstore page.
The last one is the “configuration” tab. This tab gives you various options such as it allows you to turn on/off the use of 3G/Edge, toggle icon previews for fast loading, change your currency and even turn off various categories of apps you wish not to appear in your search results.
If you are addicted to the app store and download a lot this is an app you must have. It’s a nice looking app and easy to use and App Sniper is currently the only application in app store of its kind.
However the only issue with this app is it does NOT run in the background, it would be nice to have a notification on the iPhone home screen about the recent updates.
