Air Sharing
Air Sharing is an application that lets you use your iPhone for file storage and as a document viewer. You can connect to your phone from any Windows, Mac, or Linux computer that is on the same network. Basically it turns your iphone into a memory stick of sorts but the best thing is that its wireless. Air Sharing lets you take your files with you.
When you open air sharing the app gives you an excellent tutorial that will show you how the app works and how to set it up with you PC / Mac or Linux box. Files are uploaded to Air Sharing in a number of ways, none of which require any special software to be running on your computer- just a WiFi connection. You can connect to the app using a Mac or using Windows Explorer on the PC. To move files onto an iPhone or iPod Touch, you need to first launch the app, then connect to the device’s web address from a computer that should be connected to the same wireless network. After connecting, users can drop any file or folder into the drive, just as with a USB drive.
To view any readable file, simply tap it. To delete a file on the fly, tap the edit button and press the delete sign. Folders can also be created on your desktop to keep your data in an organized way.The integrated viewer will allow you to view, a large variety of document types including: All Microsoft Office and iWork documents, HTML, PDF, RTF, and a large number of source code files. But the bad part is you cannot edit the files.
Air Sharing offers a unique pop-up menu view that allows users to jump quickly back or forward between the folders and even shows the date and time the file was loaded onto your device. Air sharing gives You an option to enable a public folder for guests in case you want to provide a spot for the public to store stuff. There is also an option to password-protect the connection, just in case you don’t want everyone on your network to view your files.
So if you are you constantly on the go needing to transfer files back and forth from computer to computer? Why not use your iphone for that? And do your work wirelessly, Instead of buying another removable drive that you actually have to plug-in. Overall this is a great app if you need to carry a lot of files with you.
